Never Cross the Lines!

So far, everyday you would have read something from our mythology. I thought, why not write something more interesting and at the same time gives some moral values, so here comes the story.....

Once there lived a king who was a very generous person. Every day he used to give alms to poor and needy people as well as hundred Brahmins. One day, as usual, he was giving away food to poor Brahmin priests. At the same time, an eagle flew above. It was carrying a dead snake. A bit of poison fell into one of the plates of the Brahmins below. Neither the King or the Brahmin knew about this and a Brahmin ate the food and died.

The dead Brahmin reached the gates of Yamalok. There Chitragupta, the complete record keeper of Gods who reported to Yamadharmaraj, was confused on whom to write the sin of the Brahmin being killed. He can't write it off on the snake as the snake was killed. He can neither write on the Eagle as the Eagle was carrying its prey. He can't write off on the king as the King was a generous man and he didn't know about it earlier. If he had known he wouldn't have given the plate of food to the Brahmin. He went to consult Lord Yama about this. Lord Yama told him " Don't worry Chitragupta. The time is already ripe and you will know very soon on whose account you should write off the sins of the Brahmin being killed."

On the same day, three Brahmins came to the city where the King lived. But, they didn't know the way to the palace. So, they saw a potter woman and asked her for the way. The potter woman clearly showed them the way, but added " Be Careful O! Brahmins. If you eat the food given by the King you may get killed." The Brahmins were shocked and returned back without meeting the King.

Now, Chitragupta who was seeing all this, wrote the sin of killing the Brahmin on the potter woman's head.

Moral: From this story we get to know that we should not speak about people who are not related to us, who haven't troubled us in any way, and also that we shouldn't speak anything about others without knowing the truth and reality.
