Want Peace- Food for Thought

Once a man wanted to meet God, but he didn't know how to do it. He asked a few people. Everyone suggested him to go to temple. He got excited and started walking towards temple. On the way he met a Saint.

Saint asked " Where are you going son?"

" I am going to meet God."

"Where?"

" In the temple."

" After going there...."

" I am going to pray to him."

"So you know him personally well?"

"No."

" You don't know him then how can you pray to him?"

The man got confused.  "What do you mean? I don't understand."

The Saint continued," If you pray to God like this it will be just a religious ritual. You will not be able to meet him as you wanted to. This is not real prayers. In today's world, men just bargain and have a barter system with God. He says if God grants his wishes, then he will fulfill certain prayers, which is just a bargain with God for worldly happiness which he is behind."

After hearing to the saint the man immediately said, " I want to show my love and affection towards God."

The Saint again asked, " Do you think you can show your true love and affection towards a person whom you never know, whom you have never met?"

"So, how can I meet God? Tell me a way."

" It's very simple. Start meditating."
" So I can see God if I meditate."
" No."

The man was again confused. The saint continued " God is not a person. He is a feeling. So you need to feel Him rather than see. If you meditate you can attain peace of mind. You can then attain a state where your mind will be pure and will be in a state to attain Godliness and feel the God present within you."

In the middle of their conversation, a foreigner came to meet the saint. He said " I WANT PEACE"

Immediately the saint said, " Go away from the first two words "I" and "WANT" and you will attain "PEACE". "I" is a simple word to show the ego present in you. Go away from "I" and " Worldly Pleasures" you will automatically attain PEACE." The foreigner got the answer he expected and he went away.

The man and the Saint continued their conversation for a while. The man got up and started walking towards his house. Immediately the saint asked " Aren't you going to the temple?"

The man replied " Firstly I am going to know God then I will meet him. Thank You!"
