The curse of Thazhampoo or screwpine or Ketki

All of us know that ketki or thazhampoo is one of the most fragrant flowers. But, many of us don't know that it'snot used in any pooja of the Hindus as it was cursed by Lord Shiva himself.
The story goes like this. Once Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu had an argument on who was the biggest and the most powerful among them.  The argument became a fight and there was too much commotion on earth as the work of protection and creation was affected. Lord Shiva, the supreme of all, appeared before them as a streak of light and asked them to find the beginning and the end of it. And, he also told them that whoever finds it would be considered the most powerful among all.
Lord Brahma took the form of a swan and started flying towards the summit, while Lord Vishnu took the form of a boar and started digging the earth. It is said that they did this work for you gas together but wwere not able to find the source.
Lord Vishnu reached the patalok but wasn't able to find. He understood his mistake and prayed to Lord Shiva who brought him back to earth.  But Lord Brahma was very determined and kept travelling towards the sky. On the way he met the ketki floor which was falling down. He enquired the flower and came to know that it was coming from the Jatamudi of Lord Shiva.
Lord Brahma requested Thazhampoo to tell that He also saw the source and travelled along with it. Thazhampoo accepted the proposal and in front of Lord Vishnu told a lie. Lord Shiva got very angry and came in front of them. Lord Vishnu felt ecstatic seeing Him. But, Lord Brahma felt ashamed and scared seeing the form of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva cut the fifth head of Lord Brahma and cursed him that he will not be worshipped in any temples and he cursed Thazhampoo that it will not be included in any worship especially related to him for telling a lie and for supporting Lord Brahma.
